In this two-part video series, we’re going to be exploring the music of the middle ages. On this channel we’ve discussed Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist and other genres and eras of music. This time we’re going further into the past to talk about the middle ages.
Today’s video covers the RCM’s grade 4 piano technique requirements (updated for the 2015 syllabus). This includes scales, triads and arpeggios. I’ll be playing with the metronome in this video at the MINIMUM required speeds (feel free to go a little faster), and will label each technique on the screen as I play them.
As many of you know, I am due to have a baby right around the time this video is going up. Since I’m recording in advance, baby might already be here! (Born on Monday, the 5th!)
If you want updates, definitely head over to my Instagram page, which will be current and up-to-date. You also might want to check out my vlog channel, since I’ll probably be posting a birth story and introducing baby over there.
So with this video, I just wanted to let you know that we won’t be doing quite as many videos in the month of February. I’ve recorded some in advance (like this one), but not a full schedule’s worth. You can expect our regular video posting schedule to return around early to mid-March, which is two videos a week (Tuesday and Saturday).
Thanks for your understanding! Michael and I are very excited to have some time away from work to get to know baby. Again, definitely check the links above if you’re interested in updates, since I won’t be posting anything baby-related on this channel (except for this particular video).
Take care, guys, and see you soon!
