Today’s episode of PianoTV is different than the usual sort, because I’ve got a bunch of announcements to make.

Are you ready for this?

No new videos over the break

First of all, there will be no new videos up over the Christmas holidays. We’re going to take the time off to spend with family and friends, and we’ll be back with brand new videos in the New Year.

PianoTV live event

And that leads me to the second announcement – the editor and I will be doing a free webinar on Wednesday, December 28th at 2pm CST, on YouTube. We’re seldom in the same physical location, so we thought it would be a fun way to hang out with you guys and do a casual Q&A, or hey, even an AMA.

The webinar will be 45 minutes to an hour long, and you should come say hello, armed with your best questions! We’ll publish the webinar once it’s aired if you can’t make it live, so no worries there.

And if no one shows up to our party, we’ll just talk amongst ourselves, and you’ll be subjected to boring conversations about Game of Thrones and food. Mwa ha ha ha ha…just kidding. Or am I?

Free Download: Preparatory Collection

Thirdly, Merry Christmas! I probably should have mentioned that at the start. I hope you have an amazing holiday, and that your days are filled with family and food and fun.

As a thank you, I put together a little Christmas present for you guys. I made a PDF file of all the Prep-level pieces we’ve done on this channel. It’s about 60 pages of music, and it’s everything from popular tunes like Greensleeves, to scales and exercises.

Most of the pieces were on this channel at one point, and have a corresponding video. In the PDF, I made links on the sheet music to all the corresponding videos, for extra convenience.

Also, there are a few pieces in there that never made the cut! I’m usually overly ambitious in what I’m able to teach, so I had too much sheet music made. So if you followed the old videos and tutorials, there will be a couple surprises in there.

They’re all beginner-level pieces. So if you’ve been playing a while, you could even use the PDF collection as sight reading practice. And, if you are a beginner or relative beginner, now you have a bunch of music in one place.

To download, you can find the PDF linked here. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Giveaway

Fourthly, I was still feeling festive beyond giving you all a free collection of sheet music. So I decided, let’s do a giveaway!

As piano players, we all love music books. But we’re all at different playing levels, and covet different books! So here’s what the winner will receive:

A $50~ order from SheetMusicPlus. If you win, we’ll have a little chat about what level you’re at and what kind of music you like, and I’ll personally select some books that I think you’ll enjoy. Alternately, if you have a very specific idea for what books you want, I’ll send you those.

Basically, you’ll win $50 worth of books, whether you choose them or I choose them.

Note that we’re talking $50 CAD. I’m Canadian, so, you know, I go with my own currency. For reference’s sake, it would be about $40 USD.

Enter the giveaway via YouTube

In order to enter the giveaway, you have to 1) be a subscriber, and 2) leave a comment on this video.
The winner will be announced during the live webinar event on the 28th. If you miss the live webinar, we’ll put up a recording of it, so not to fear.

If you’re the contest winner, all you have to do is go to the PianoTV YouTube page, click “about”, and you’ll have my contact details. Get in touch with me, and we’ll set it up!

Patreon and donations

Okay, guys, we made it – the last announcement!

For announcement #5, we decided to create a Patreon page. You can click the link and head on over to our shiny new Patreon home – there’s a video up there explaining all the details.

Basically, if you enjoy these videos and you’d like to contribute in any way, our Patreon page exists for that purpose. It’s a way to give back and help us out, and keep the videos coming. Plus, with Patreon, you get fun perks when you donate.

If you prefer a simpler, no-frills approach, we also have a PayPal donations button here.

PianoTV will always be free, because I believe in free. I believe everyone should have access to music lessons in some way, even if they can’t afford private lessons.

The ads you see on videos help us cover some costs, but additional contributions will help us do things like upgrade our equipment to make better videos, and even to start ambitious projects like creating an app – which is on our ultimate bucket list, by the way.

And please share these videos if you find them useful! Probably the biggest gift you could give us is that of a share, and for those of you who have shared our videos, my deepest thanks!

Conclusion

To conclude, and to summarize:

I always get a little sappy around this time of year, but thank you so much for watching, and for your support over the past year and a half. It’s your comments, suggestions, and enthusiasm that help us keep making videos.

Have an awesome holiday, and we’ll catch you on the 28th!

xo,
Allysia
